I'll just say now that this may be the last blog that is posted for a while because I have a ticket to Nice but I can't find any available accomodation, so I may be sleeping on the beach or moving on to somewhere new and therefore may not have wifi. I'll still write them if my phone has power but a few maybe posted late and all at once.
We took the metro to Vatican city and got there about 30 minutes before the pope came out to do his set. He first did a lap of honour in his mini open top hummer and then addressed the audience before doing a 15 minute guitar solo with Brian May and finished with fireworks. Ok the guitar bit and fireworks may have been a slight fabrication, but here is a pic of him addressing the masses - You may have to squint, he's on the chair at the back.

After having tea with the pope we went round the vatican museum and the Sistine chapel. There is a large collection of statues and a section of them are dedicated to animals. Even Lee's late pet crab had been remembered in statue form.

You can't take pictures in the Sistine chapel so obviously the picture below was taken by "a friend" who I now can't remember the name of.

The museum itself is quite large so it took us a few hours to walk around. We went for some food and ate it in st peters square. We then queued up for about half hour to get into St Perers Basilica

St Peters is what you can see in the background and it is very impressive inside.
We then had a bit of a walk around the river and got the metro back to the girls hotel. That's where we are now. I've had a quick shower here (because I've checked out of my hostel) and we're just about to go out for a meal before I have to hop on the train to Milan.
So on that note I shall leave you to go have some food. Unfortunatly it not free tonight ;(
Ps - if you ever wanted to know what Louise would like doing an impression of Tina Turner - see below
